Best Pizza in Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill

One address here is a destination and the rest are a neighborhood. Lucali is a converted candy store on Henry Street turning out coal-oven pies with no slices and no cards, and a line that forms before the door opens. It is the reason people who do not live here come at all.

Everyone who does live here eats on Smith Street. Three of the eight are on it within a few blocks — Giardini, Smith Street Pizza, and the Brooklyn outpost of Prince Street Pizza, which brought its spicy pepperoni square over from Nolita. Court Street is the other spine: F&F does the Sicilian square, and Aromi is a full Italian room where you can order a steak alongside the Neapolitan.

The outlier is worth the detour. Sottocasa sits a few steps below street level on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill, with an oven imported from Naples and the soft, leopard-spotted crust that comes with it.
